KTLA, Save Ms. Salazar, Press Conference
BackYesterday afternoon a press conference and protest occurred over the removal of educator Karen Salazar, fired by the administrators of Jordan High (Watts) for "Afro-Centrism". Poet and Educator Mark Gonzales also publicly resigned from the school over frustration over administrative and educational atmosphere, along with over a dozen other teachers. He is claiming "disruption" of school activity even though the protest on the flyer is AFTER school hours and NOT ON SCHOOL GROUNDS! DEMAND: IMMEDIATE return of students to their classes; STOP the waste of their instructional time. STOP the harassment of youth practicing democracy. STOP the abuse of power.
