The Pope's Woman Part 1 of 3

Back

Knowsley Village (near Liverpool, England) is home to Monica Weld-Richards, a devout Catholic, and her Anglican husband, Barry. Monica has always felt a special calling to the priesthood, but being a woman in a man's church, her call must go unanswered. Shot during the 17 days between the death of Pope John Paul II and the election of Cardinal Ratzinger, "The Pope's Woman" explores the tenuous relationship between faith, tradition and obedience. Directed by Ricardo Martensen (Brazil). Produced by James Graham (England). Edited by Gina DeBartolo (USA). Produced at the University of Salford in 2005.
