This video was taken while doing research about John Purdue, founder of Purdue University. Although Purdue University is widely recognized, very little was known about John Purdue. A new book, UNCLE: MY JOURNEY WITH JOHN PURDUE, tells the story of this mysterious man from a desperately poor, illiterate "mountain hollows" family. This book and the videos also document the story of a family's search for its roots. Author Irena McCammon Scott is the great-great-grandniece of John Purdue.
