Neil Sedaka sings Wheeling West Virginia (1970)

Back

"Wheeling West Virginia" by Neil Sedaka (born in Brooklyn in 1939). This song reached number 20 on the Australian charts in March 1970, and is one of Neil Sedaka's best songs. (It didn't do so well in the United States). The song seems to be about a guy from Wheeling in West Virginia pretending to be a movie star at the MGM studios in Hollywood. He apparently imagines he drives to MGM each day in his MG sports car ! Footnote : In 1924 the head of the Morris sales agency in Oxford (England ), Cecil Kimber, started building sporting versions of Morris cars, and badged them as "MG". MG stood for 'Morris Garages'. The cassette deck is a 1975 model Sony TC-152SD. The Maxell XLII 90 epitaxial chromium dioxide ("chrome") tape was purchased in the 1980's.
