I love Jesus, have spent a couple of years doing "missions work" by helping poor folk in West Africa AND I find those televangelist types VERY SCARY. I think the Chasers are brilliant. Notice that the Chasers never run Christ down, just the more misguided nut-jobs who commit all sorts of travesties in His name. Would Jesus laugh along with the Chasers? (WJLAWTC?) - You know, I think he probably would.

You're confusing atheism and science here. To be an atheist means that you don't belong to any religion. A religion being what deals with the metaphysical. Period. Most atheists will turn to scientific explainations because they also don't have anything to do with metaphysics and they offer the best natural explainations there are. The belief in science is not what makes a person atheist, it's the rejection of the metaphysical.

Im not saying a non religious society will cope less than a religious one, im saying faith is not the cause of social issues which is often the atheist motto Religion causes war, And that atheism is also based on faith, teachings and unproven assumptions. It has zealots(Dawkins) and shames(Stalin) much the same as most faiths, countries, societies etc. Its also not a question of intelligence which America, and sherrif379 shows us.

I'm sorry, I mistaked you for an American, and I didn't want to confuse you by being so specific, I apoligise :D My point is that societies where religion publically is non-existant, Scandinavia for instance where I'm from myself, are doing just fine. No fanatics or pseudoreligions, no worshipping of Hitler (don't really see the connection there, but whatever). And there's no throwing fecses in the streets. Oh, and evolution is far better supported than any religious idea ever was ;)

What part of eurpoe are you speaking about? again i think you are misguided if you think eurpoe is "(mostly) religionless". Granted we dont have the Evangelists and TV preachers, but religion is still a massive part of society, im from West London, (thats in England Europe) maybe you should visit sometime to see how wrong you are.

Maybe you ought to expand your views on the lack of religion somewhere beyond youtube videos. Take a trip to Europe (and if you are European, stop watching those silly movies) and see how a (mostly) religionless society works just perfectly :)

Im sorry, are you Richard Dawkins? Or do you just follow blindly what he says .. I think Atheists are in danger of becoming fanatics about their religion, you have your saints / preachers (Dawkins, Darwin, Hitler, Stalin etc) and you holy books (The God Delusion, Evolution of species etc) and your blind unproven faith one of which is that your ancestors were wild facieses throwing, sex orientated apes. Im glad you found religion.
